The sun shines brightly on this sunny day
It's a bit windy, but that's okay
The leaves gently float in the breeze
The soothing sounds of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin make the day all the better
Their music makes you reminisce about days of old
Remembering days, and days filled with laughs
The voice of Dean Martin melts through into your soul like butter melting in a pan
It seems as if Frank Sinatra and the orchestra playing with him take you away
To a different place that is serene and warm
As the music ends, you slowly come back to earth
You realize that your back in the real world
Slowly the beautiful Fall day comes to a close
As the sun sets, you look through your study and find records of Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry
You start to play them and you let the music take you away yet again
Elvis's soothing voice brings you into a deep sleep and you start to dream
You remember how things used to be long ago
You look back at your wonderful life
From when you were a little kid, to now
Then you fall into a deep sleep, one you will not wake up from
So here's a question
How would you spend your last day on Earth?

  1. Dan, I love your poem! I like how you start the piece with a memory (right?) and then end it back in the present time. Also, how you ended the poem with a question is really creative and leaves the reader with something to think about :)
